What can I submit?
You can submit:

● A full page artwork
Maximum
of 1 to 3 pieces per artist. |

● A comic
1
page minimum, 20 pages maximum.
1 comic per artist. Please illustrate
a cover or dedicate a panel for
the title of the comic. |

● A 4Koma
1 to 2 pieces
per artist. Please check below for the
provided template to draw on.
4Komas are comics in which a gag is
told within 4 panels. They are read
from top to bottom. Want to make your
own? You can use this
template!
The very first narrow panel at the top
is for you to fill with the title for
your 4Koma. Don't feel restricted to
keeping your artwork inside the panels!
Be creative! Have fun!
It is completely up to you what you
submit. You can submit as much as you
want, as long as you don't go over the
allowed number of works per artist!
What
should I keep in mind?
● All submissions must feature characters from the Black Jack universe! So your comic can feature Black Jack and Pinoko, or can just be a Biwamaru standalone! For more information, please check the FAQ section!
● No outright hate or "anti"-submissions.
● All submissions must be in JPG format.
● All submissions must be of 600x850 (600 width x 850 height) pixels in size. No more, no less.
● Portrait orientation only.
● All artwork must be in black and white. Screentone or greytone for shading and shadows is allowed.
● Please refrain from submitting more than the allowed amount per artist. Don't cheat by going under another name and e-mail. =(
● No plagiarism! It is theft if the work is not your own. The submission has to be your own creation. Plagiarizing will result in your submission/s being rejected or removed.
● You can parody an existing story/theme, for example, a parody of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale but with characters from the Black Jack series. But change the story enough to make it your own instead of copying a story/theme too closely.
● You are allowed to submit only 1 already existing piece of artwork, if you wish. This does not apply to comics and 4Komas. Sorry!
● All comics, 4komas and artwork must be complete. So no incomplete sketches, all text and speech bubbles are there, etc. All comics must be a self-contained story before submitted.
● You can collaborate with another person or work in a group! Just remember to submit your names, e-mails and websites (optional). I may not be able to list more than 2 people on a page, so forward only 2 names to be credited. No need to tell us who did what.
● You can watermark your work, as long as it doesn't totally obstruct your submission.
● Do not use your submission to spam your own personal work, website, private information, etc. That means no web URLs, advising people to buy a certain existing brand, revealing your home address/phone number, etc.
● Crossovers of Tezuka universes and characters is acceptable. Other franchises will not be accepted unless used as a punch line or gag in a 4Koma.
● Please do not post what you have submitted (artwork, comic, 4Koma) to your site or any other website until the site finally opens on the 29th of November 2010. However, if you are submitting a comic you are allowed to show a preview of your comic (a few panels or so).
What should I keep in mind if I am using text in my submission?
● All text must be legible. Click here to see example.
● Please write your text in print if you are doing it completely by hand or have no program to help you insert text. Click here to see example.
● All submissions must be in English. However, you can have sound effects in Japanese if you'd like!
● Keep all text within the page or speech bubbles and be consistent about speech bubble text size! Click here to see example.
● Spell-check your work! Any submissions with spelling mistakes will be posted "as is", without corrections!
● Refrain from using bad language. Use it sparingly.
● All comic submissions must be read from left to right.
What genres are accepted?
- Comedy
- drama
- action
- romance (platonic)
- sci fi/fantasy.
● Emphasis on romance genre: Please keep it to a canon coupling (ie. Rock x Black Queen, Black Jack x Megumi), and keep it at a PG rating. For more information, please check the FAQ section!
● Boy love (shonen-ai) and girl love (shoujo-ai) are accepted. However, we will not accept: yaoi, yuri, slash, guro (explicit sexual gore), or anything of a sexual nature.
● Surgical procedures are fine, but don't be overly tasteless when showing it.
● Death is acceptable so long as it's tasteful.
TIP: Keep your submissions Crisp, Clean, and Clear!
Please make your work as clean and clear as possible. Keep your work free of smudges, dirt, smears, and other unintended messes. Line art should be crisp and clear. You can use pencil, but scan it so it's clear and defined on page so people are able to see what it is you have drawn. Click here to see examples! |

Please use the Star System characters!
You can use original characters if you
like, but it would be so much better
if you used a character from Tezuka's
vast roster of characters. It would
be such a fun bonus for all Tezuka fans~!
Check TezukainEnglish
for a list of characters!
●
You can submit whenever you like, so
long as it is before the deadline. If
you have submitted something but want
to add another submission, that's fine!
Just make sure to be on time.
●
If you wish to remove your work, please
let me know. Use the same e-mail address
you used to submit your work, give me
the title of your submission/s and why
you want to remove them. You cannot
ask to remove a piece of work just to
update it after the submission deadline.
●
Quality over quantity. You have
plenty of time to work on your submission.
^^
●
If your submission isn't accepted, then
I will tell you so and why. I may also
advise you on how to improve or change
your work. Hopefully it wouldn't come
to that. ^^
●
This is not a competition! There are
no prizes.
●
Please read over the FAQ
section before asking me any
questions as it may already be answered
there!
●
This
doujinshi will be not printed out for
profit! It is a labor of love that
is by the fans, for the fans, for free.
Black Jack is, after all, the property
of Tezuka Osamu. |
